Tantric Sex is this month's topic. In today's world, time is at a premium. Couples
spend most of their time juggling hectic work schedules, driving kids to and from baseball
games, doctor's appointments and band lessons, and doing household chores leaving little
time for intimacy. Intimate relations are usually an afterthought at the end of the day
and sex becomes a brief and boring routine.
Thousands of couples seeking to
recapture the passion and romance in their relationship and add variety to their sexual
routine have discovered tantric sex. Nicknamed the science of ecstasy, tantric sex focuses
on heightening and prolonging the special awareness and rapport that exists between lovers
during lovemaking. It is a deeply physical experience - not just a momentary physical
sensation - that unites couples in an intense physical, spiritual and emotional bond.
Practitioners describe the intensity of a tantric orgasm as a cosmic or divine experience
that has incredible spiritual meaning.
For centuries, cultures have
recognized sex as one of the greatest creative forces of the universe and can only be
truly appreciated by realizing its full potential. The art of prolonging the pleasures of
lovemaking without reaching orgasm were written down in the Kama Sutra, the Hindu sex
manual written in the fourth century. Recent interest in the philosophy of Tantric sex has
led couples to explore Kama Sutra in more detail.
Tantrics believe that prolonging
sexual arousal and channeling sexual energy to the brain rewards lovers with intense new
levels of pleasure. Through extensive physical, sexual and mental exertion, couples learn
to heighten their senses and focus their sexual energy to achieve this state of ecstasy.
Tantric theory holds that sexual energy passes through seven parts of the body known as
chakras. The seven regions of the body are: the genitals, below the navel, solar plexus,
heart, throat, between the eyebrows and the crown of the head. Energy produced by sexual
arousal is channeled to each of the seven chakras to produce an intense, full-body orgasm.
After a period of slow and thoughtful practice, couples learn to comfortably extend the
time of lovemaking and welcome the experience of sexuality and sensuality as a conscious
meditation.
Couples engaging in Tantric sex
begin by touching each of their partner's seven chakras to bring them in sync and feel
their sexual energy. Couples then sit together naked without genital stimulation to show
affection without expressing sexual rewards. Next, couples engage in deep breathing
exercises to energize their bodies for sexual activity, followed by a full-body massage.
To release any remaining stress or tension, couples may choose to dance or practice a
series of freestyle movements. After setting the scene for the lovemaking ritual, couples
choose a number of positions for intercourse including yab yum (woman sit on lover's lap
with legs behind him), male superior, sitting or female superior while continuing to
resist the urge to orgasm.
During subsequent cycles of resting
and entering the vagina, the male will rest his penis just outside the vagina. During the
rest times, the couple might lie silently together, or gently caress each other as they
focus on the experience of their union. Throughout this experience, both partners may be
highly aroused, hovering close to the point of reaching orgasm. After suppressing their
sexual urges for an extended period of time, couples finally achieve an intense full-body
orgasm that flows physical and emotional energy into a unparalleled state of ecstasy.
